Arriflex 35IIBV Bayonet Mount

THIS CAMERA IS SOLD. Thank you for your interest

Been hunting for an Arriflex 35II?

Most directors and DP’s know that the Arriflex 35II series of cameras are the perfect cameras to personally own. The make great hand-held and B-Unit cameras. Many Directors and DP’s started their careers with the spec spots or demo reels the shot with an Arriflex 35 like this one.

You may think 35mm film is too expensive for you, but you can actually buy short ends under 200 feet for only 12 cents a foot. That’s only $24.00 for a 200 foot roll!

As you probably know, these Arriflex 35II series cameras have not been manufactured for two decades, so examples in good working condition are becoming scarce. They pop up here on eBay from time to time, but you are taking your chances as far as the camera’s condition.

The Arriflex 35II series of cameras are almost legendary for their ruggedness and reliability. These cameras are the most popular models Arriflex ever manufactured. A success even Arri has not been able to re-create. Most of the “French New Wave” films of the ‘60’s were shot with the 35II’s, as well as most of Stanley Kubrick’s Clockwork Orange.

Don't buy a worn-out camera when you can have a properly overhauled one like this.

Package Price $3,450.00

Features:

  • 35IIBV camera body, based on the Arriflex 35II film movement. These cameras are almost legendary for their ruggedness and reliability. This camera has the very desirable Variable Shutter which adjusts 15º - 165º. Perfect for shooting music videos.
  • This camera has been upgraded with a 35IIC Ground Glass Holder. The main difference between this 35IIB and the later 35IIC is that the IIC has increased vertical coverage in the viewfinder for shooting in the Cinemamascope Anamporphic format with Anamorphic lenses. The 35IIB's optics are designed to shoot Academy format 35mm which is what 85% of feature film and about 95% of commercials and music videos are shot in. You really don't need a IIC unless you are going to shoot anamorphic. However, with this upgraded 35IIB, you can actually see the entire Anamorphic Frame Area. This upgrade also allows you to use the much more common 35IIC/ 35III ground glass. A 1.66:1/ Academy ground glass included. You may also specify your format choice in a new Shurco ground glass for $345.00
  • This camera has been upgraded with a Stainless Steel Bayonet Mount turret from an Arriflex 35IIC/B. This turret was normally not available on the IIB. Both Arri Standard and Arri Bayonet lenses can be used, incluing the Zeiss Mk. I T1.4 Super-Speed lenses.
  • This camera is fitted with a very desirable high-speed full-aperture gate (18.6 x 24.0 mm). This gate exposes the entire image area available on 35mm film. This allows you to reposition the image in transfer if desired. Another benefit is, if you are shooting for video transfer, the bottom edge of the gate is so far from the TV Safe framline that you can almost forget about the possibilty of a gate hair. This gate is also the high speed version. It is fitted with special adjustment screws that prevent oscillation of the pressure plate (which would blur the focus) when shooting at higher frame rates.
  • This camera has been fully overhauled. It was completely dissasembled, ultrasonically cleaned, properly lubricated with ARRI lubricants, re-assembled and calibrated, and film tested for registration. The film test in both 35mm negative and VHS transfer are included.
  • Two 200' film magazines are included. These compact mags are perfect for shooting short ends, or for hand held or steadicam use.
  • Three prime lenses are included, a Kinoptic 18mm and Schneider Cine-Xenon: 28mm f2.0, 35mm f2.0. All lenses have been cleaned, lubricated, and adjusted on our lens collimator. Visual Products sells the Kinoptic 18mm for $800.00 alone.
  • ARRI variable speed motor for IIB/ IIC is included. Frame rate from about 5 to 50 fps.
  • 12 Volt 8 Amp-Hour Block Battery included.
