PL Mount Adapter for ARRI Bayonet mount lenses

I admit it. I used to hate PL Mount Adapters. So why am I selling them here? Let me explain:

Back when I was working as a bench tech for a camera rental house/ camera dealer, I was keenly aware of how bad the old PL Mount Adapters were. They were usually not made to the tight tolerances necessary for motion picture work. Any error in the relative distance between the surface that the ARRI Standard/ Bayonet flange rested on, and the PL flange (the surface that rested on the camera’s PL mount) translated into focus error in the lens.

But my clients kept asking for them. There were just too many good lenses out there in ARRI Standard and Bayonet mount that they wanted to use on their PL mount cameras. I looked all over for a good solution.

I am now pleased to offer these high quality PL mount adapters. Designed and manufactured for us in Germany to the highest quality standards, these PL adapters use an innovative design that eliminates all of the problems mentioned above.

• High quality CNC machined and precision ground 18-8 Stainless Steel construction. Tightest possible tolerances.
• Locking ring design provides positive pressure to ensure that the adapter fits tightly against the original lens mount (no air gap to reduce calibration accuracy).
• ARRI Bayonet version has Stainless ring that locks against the Bayonet lugs. The ring is locked to the adapter with four set screws to prevent loosening. This version also has black anodized aluminum screw-in protection cone. It looks just like a a factory Zeiss PL mount.
• ARRI Standard version uses a unique wire ring locking system to distribute locking pressure evenly over the entire groove at the back of the lens mount, instead of just four tiny set screws spotting against the groove as in other designs. A black anodized aluminum lockring keeps it securely in place.
• Both adapters allow the placement of the lens witness mark anywhere the user desires (must be set during installation).
• Both adapters can be removed, and will not damage the original lens mount in any way (other designs leave set screw dents).

Our price includes installation and calibration at CinemaTechnic (Miami, FL USA). Installation requires special tools, and the lens must be checked for focus accuracy with the PL Mount Adapter installed, and adjusted if necessary. NOTE: These adapters will not work properly with ARRI Standard mount lenses where the focus ring is one piece and turns with the lens mount, such as the older Cookes and Schneiders. To determine if your lens is compatible, hold the lens mount and turn the focus ring. If it does not move, your lens is not compatible with this or any other PL mount adapter.

WARNING: Some lenses in ARRI Standard or Bayonet mount have rear elements that will damage the shutter on many newer cameras. This usually happens with older wide angle lenses, or by using 16mm lenses on a 35mm camera. You must check for shutter clearance by slowly turning the shutter manually to see if the shutter on your camera clears. Please contact us if you have questions about this.
