| The photos at left show our new PL Mount Adapter for ARRI Standard mount lenses.
Top photo shows the PL Mount Adapter mounted on a lens (a Kilfitt 40mm Macro). Note how the retaining ring is compressed into the groove at the rear of the lens mount by the black anodized lockring. Bottom photo shows the PL Mount Adapter itself, with the retaining ring next to it. This is the only design of a PL Mount Adapter that locks firmly against the groove on an ARRI Standard mount. Most older designs used four set screws that dug into the soft aluminum that ARRI Standard mount lens mounts were usually made from. Our PL mount adapters actually hold the lens more securely than the original ARRI Standard mount on the camera (which uses only two spring loaded claws) does. These adapters are perfect for older Zeiss Primes, and most Schneider primes, as well as any other ARRI Stardard mount lenses with non-rotating lens mounts (see note below). |

I admit it. I used to hate PL Mount Adapters. So why am I selling them here? Let me explain:
Back when I was working as a bench tech for a camera rental house/ camera dealer, I was keenly aware of how bad the old PL Mount Adapters were. They were usually not made to the tight tolerances necessary for motion picture work. Any error in the relative distance between the surface that the ARRI Standard/ Bayonet flange rested on, and the PL flange (the surface that rested on the cameraÕs PL mount) translated into focus error in the lens. But my clients kept asking for them. There were just too many good lenses out there in ARRI Standard (like the old Zeiss T2.2 standard primes) and Bayonet mount (the Zeiss Mark I Super-Speeds) that they wanted to use on their PL mount cameras. I looked all over for a good solution. I am now pleased to offer these high quality PL mount adapters. Designed and manufactured in Germany to the highest quality standards, these PL adapters use an innovative design that eliminates all of the problems mentioned above.
Our price includes installation and calibration at CinemaTechnic (Miami, FL USA). Installation requires special tools, and the lens must be checked for focus accuracy with the PL Mount Adapter installed, and adjusted if necessary. This ensures perfect focus calibration of the lens with the PL Mount Adapter installed. In case you want to compare prices... ARRI USA sells their PL mount adapter for $1,480.00. Visual Products sells their PL mount conversion (for ARRI Bayonet only) for $495.00 without installaton. To Order: Contact us to arrange to have your lens sent in for installation. Shipping costs will be determined when the lens ships back to you with the PL Mount Adapter installed. You are responsible for insuring the lens shipment in each direction. Payment is due before your lens return ships. We suggest you send a business check or money order with your lens shipment. We can also accept credit card payments through PayPal We will only accept PayPal from Verified U.S. PayPal members with confirmed shipping address. NOTE: These adapters will not work properly with ARRI Standard mount lenses where the focus ring is one piece and turns with the lens mount, such as the older Cookes and Schneiders. To determine if your lens is compatible, hold the lens mount and turn the focus ring. If it does not move, your lens is not compatible with this or any other PL mount adapter. WARNING: Some lenses in ARRI Standard or Bayonet mount have rear elements that will damage the shutter on many newer cameras. This usually happens with older wide angle lenses, or by using 16mm lenses on a 35mm camera. You must check for shutter clearance by slowly turning the shutter manually to see if the shutter on your camera clears. Please contact us if you have questions about this. CinemaTechnic is not responsible for any damage caused by using a lens with insufficient shutter clearance on any camera. Introductory price $450.00 - Includes Installation! |
