Kish Optics Super Wide Angle Eyepices
CinemaTechnic highly recommends upgrading the standard eyepiece on your 16SR when converting to Super 16.

The standard eyepiece on the Arriflex 16SR I or II is also the standard eyepiece on the Arriflex 35IIC introduced in 1964. These eyepieces are barely adequate for Super 16 upgraded 16SR's. The entire Super 16 fiberscreen (ground glass) cannot be seen through the standard eyepiece. You must move your eye to scan the corners of the frame. This causes eye fatigue for the camera operator. The corners of the image are also blurred.
The Kish Eye Junior eyepiece is sized just right for the SRI/II cameras. It is equivalent in overall size to the SR-3 eyepiece, but has larger diameter optics. This eyepiece is also an excellent upgrade for the Arriflex 35IIC, and the Arriflex 35-III, especially cameras shooting Anamorphic or Super 35mm.

NOTE: The Kish eyepices are compatible with ARRI eyecups, so you can use the ARRI HE-3 heated eyecup.

The Kish Eye JR is available now from CinemaTechnic in very limited quantities. The KishEye 35 is expeced to be available in early 2005. Due to high demand, these items have been out of stock for over a year, so do not delay if you want one.

Future Products: We are also working with Kish Optics on an extension viewfinder for the ARRI 16SR I/II, 35IIC, 35-3, and 35BL 1/2/3. This new viewfinder will not have an inverting prisim, in order to increase both brightness and sharpness. The viewfinder will also offer bulit-in magnificaton for critical focusing.
CinemaTechnic is working on a modification to the ARRI 16SR viewfinder that will offer the ability to rotate the prism manually, as in the 16SR3, in order to use this new viewfinder. Please contact us if you are interested in this new product.
