The TXM-25 gives basic crystal sync at low cost. It is used where the original BL motor cannot be crystal controlled. (This motor is not recommended for students or rental, owing to the rather small and delicate nature of the speed switches etc.) Nine (Eleven) Crystal Speeds 9.375, 12, 12.5, 15, 18.75, 24, 25, 30 and 37.5 FPS (frames per second). With the 24:50, 24:48 or 25:50 gear set you should be able to also run at 48 and 50 FPS. The 60 Hz HMI speeds are 12, 15, 24 and 30 FPS. For 50 Hz the HMI speeds are 12.5, 25 and (if available) 50 FPS. Work With Any Gear Ratio External Speed Control An RJ-12 receptacle accepts the TCS Milliframe Controllers for .001 FPS speed increments over the range of 8 up to 42 or 50 FPS depending on the gear ratio. There is an output for the TMC2's footage counter. The Videoframe Controller can be used for getting just 23.976 and 29.970 FPS. Connecting the speed control requires removing the motor shroud and passing the RJ-12 cable through the removable window. The motor shroud can then be replaced, perhaps using a cutout cork or stopper to minimize noise leaking out of the opening. (Unplugging the cable again can be tricky, if you are using external speed control a lot you might want to cut off the latching button from the plug.) Sync Alarm A red light shows if correct speed is not maintained. Other Information The speed switches and sync alarm are all accessible through the removable window in the back of the motor shroud (formerly used for the reversing switch on the old original BL motor.) 24:60 Gear Set if required, $100. Operating instructions can be previewed here. Possible Accessories: Battery Belt or AC Power Supply (requires a different plug, or adapter pigtail, to fit the original Amphenol/Bendix receptacle.) © Tobin Cinema Systems, Inc. CinemaTechnic |
