Motion Picture Camera Equipment Maintenance and Repair
CinemaTechnic offers maintenance, repair and upgrades of ARRI / Arriflex motion picture cameras, Angenieux, Cooke and Zeiss cine lenses. Ours is the most fully equipped independent motion picture camera repair facility in South Florida. The size and level of equipment in our workshop is comparable to the largest camera rental houses in our area.
We also have a well equipped small machine shop, equipped with the the most precise equipment available for the size of work we do. Our shop includes a German Wabeco F1200E vertical mill with Mitutoyo DRO, and a Swiss made Schaublin 102N-80 CF lathe. Both these machines have been custom modified by Jorge Diaz-Amador to increase their accuracy and repeatability for the finest precision work, to accuracy of 0.01mm / 0.0004 in. This allows us to offer many upgrades to older cameras that are not offered anywhere else. We can also perform repairs to badly damaged equipment, modify older equipment to accept newer parts where the older parts are no longer available, and make custom parts to very tight tolerances.
We specialize in the 16SR 1, 2 and 3 35IIC and 35-3 models, but can support all Arriflex cameras. All repair work is performed in-house by Jorge who was trained by ARRI GmbH Munich Germany factory techs. We are equipped with all the required special tools to service and calibrate your Arriflex to factory standards.
For lens repairs and calibrations, we have a Century Precision Optics Lens Test Projector and Möller-Wedel and Richter Autocollimator systems.
Jorge has also trained at Carl Zeiss in Oberkochen, Germany and is qualified on all Zeiss cine lenses up to the Ultra Prime series. We have the special Zeiss tools needed for servicing the Ultra Primes.
Please e-mail to schedule repair work (e-mail is preferred, please make the first contact through e-mail and we will resond with a phone number). Average turn around time for most repairs is 5 business days if no replacement parts need to be ordered. If parts are needed, please allow 10 business days. For camera conversions, such as Super 16 conversions, 10-15 business days is expeced.
Labor rates and policies are as follows:
Normal labor rate is $100.00 per hour, for scheduled jobs, minimum 5 business days time in shop. If there are jobs ahead of yours, "in the pipeline", your job must wait it's turn. Time in shop is not guaranteed for normal labor rates. You will not be charged shipping on ARRI parts (they will be sent UPS Ground).
A discounted labor rate of $95.00/ hr is charged for non-expedited jobs requiring 8 or more hours of labor, such as camera overhauls (must be a single invoice and single item of equipment being repaired).
Expedited repair labor rate is $150.00/ hour. Expedited repairs must be scheduled, we may not be able to accept them if the shop is too busy. Generally, expedited repairs begin work as soon as the camera is recieved and in most cases are completed within two business days. Written confirmation of expedited delivery time will be given after work has begun and the equipment has been examined and diagnosed. The discount over 8 hours in not available for expedited work. If the equipment is not delivered on time, the expedited labor rate is waived, and the repair is charged at the normal labor rate. In any case you will be charged for express shipping of parts needed for your expedited repair.
Please note that we are not responsible for delays in processing test films and transfering to digital, and such delays are not considered in the delivery time for expedited repairs.
We back up all our repairs with a six month service adjustment policy (repair labor only).
Payment for all repairs is expected at the time the equipment is delivered. We can accept credit cards through PayPal.com. A 1.5% service fee will be added for all PayPal payments.
Super-16 conversion of ARRI 16SR.
We offer the highest quality conversions. A low cost in-house conversion and a "high end" conversion through P+S Technik, Germany are offered.

Custom Camera Equipment Modifications
We specialize in performing modifications not offered by other vendors. Our specialty is conversions of the ARRI 35IIC Medical Cameras, which we call the CinemaTechnic 35 LM. We also offer unique upgrades and accessories for the Arriflex 16SR I and II cameras.
Camera Equipment Rental
We have a complete Arriflex 16SRII Super-16 camera package available. Our unique CinemaTechnic 35 LM cameras, lightweight 35mm MOS cameras based on the Arriflex 35IIC will be available for rental in the future.
